Julian: Myles, your wide-ranging musical taste never ceases to amaze me. It’s pretty evident to see it in your playlist. Can you tell me what the thought process was behind choosing these songs?

Myles: My playlist is a little all over the place, but thats where I am at the moment. Picking out these songs I wanted to curate something that was wholistic and had a common theme, but I realized a lot of life is not limited to one “mood” or “vibe” and this shouldn’t be either.

Your playlist is made up of all kinds of different songs. If possible, could you sum up the general theme you want listeners to come away with?

In terms of the actual sound of the music these are songs I would classify as goosebump music, something that just gives you a little chill throughout your body. Sometimes its in the production of these songs that makes me feel a way and for others its a certain line that really hits me. No matter if these songs hit you in the same way as they do for me or not, I wanted to share these songs because music is a connector. Even if you’re not hearing the songs the same way as me maybe you’re feeling the same way as someone else listening.

Can you pick one song on your playlist and tell us the story behind it?

A few songs on this playlist have a very ‘on the road’ type feel to them, like life is coming and going and you’re strapped in for the ride. ‘The Highways of Life’ by The Isley Brothers captures that feeling perfectly in my opinion. I’m really drawn to this style of song because I’m always listening to music when I’m driving or traveling and I feel like I mark a lot of changes in my life with music. Right now especially as I’m moving from school to the “real world” I’m especially feeling like I’m moving on and starting a new journey in my life. Also The Isley Brothers have such great soul in their music; everything from their vocals to their instruments are in unison.
